The critical importance of making our state a place where main street businesses can not only survive, but thrive, should be a primary focus of everyone serving in the legislature. That effort will have far-reaching implications—from improving the lives of our State’s citizens to stabilizing Connecticut’s finances and making it more affordable." - Matt Lauf |
Making our communities a PRIORITY.
As your State Representative, my priorities will be:
Advocate for Parental SupportAs a father of two, my wife and I are on the same page when it comes to how we raise our children. A top priority is maintaining our parental rights to know what they are and will be learning in school and make medical decisions on their behalf. How we raise our children should not be up to the Government. I will take the concerns of families directly to the legislature and be our voice for the 9th District.

Promote Financial ResponsibilityWe are living in a time where the financial burden of inflation is hurting not only businesses, but families. Every dollar counts now more than ever. Gas prices are through the roof, food costs more, and although the suspense on the gas tax has helped some, it isn't indefinite and not doing enough to ease the financial burden. Suspending taxes, or increasing expenditures is not helping our District. I will help bring financial accountability back into the legislature, and put you first when it comes to how CT budgets.

Uphold Government AccountabilityConnecticut has gone far too long without accountability. From budgets to tax increases, our representatives in the House and Senate are not working in harmony. We need fresh faces, new ideas and a willingness to put our parties aside with the goal of making this State better for everyone that lives here. I will work across the aisle and call out poor governing when I see it.

Support Local BusinessesNow more than ever, are our local businesses carrying the burden of paying back federal loans given to CT during the pandemic, on top of having to deal with inflation, rising gas prices and the challenge of finding employees to hire at a livable wage. We need to keep our businesses open and our residents working! I will work hard to stop legislation from being passed that will hurt CT businesses and their employees.

Fight the Juvenile Crime EpidemicAlthough legislation has passed holding law enforcement accountable for their actions, what has been lacking is better accountability towards the individuals committing the crimes. Too many of our neighbors have succumbed to car theft and even car jacking. A 'slap on the wrist' is not enough, and I hope to bring more light to this issue through our District's perspective.

Collaborate with MunicipalsEast Hartford and Manchester will always come first when working in Hartford. Whether it's a State or Federal grant, creating policy that benefits our residents, or bringing your testimonies to the floor about the issues you care most about, I want to work with the local municipals to bring the absolute best back to our community.
